Revolutionary War re-enactors to Return to the Hook

Nearly 1,500 re-enactors have registered to take part in the Return to the Hook re-enactment, scheduled for Oct. 18-20 on the grounds of the Inn at Warner Hall, Gloucester.

Battle of the Hook planning committee member Warren Deal told the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors during its Sept. 3 meeting that next month’s event is quickly approaching the number of participants the original Battle of the Hook reenactment saw in 2008.

"The only fear we have is the price of gas," Deal said, which would be the only reason he could foresee discouraging some of the participants who will be coming from all over the United States.

According to Deal, at least 10 artillery units, eight boats and over 20 horses will take part in the Return to the Hook. "We expect probably 150 artillery rounds and 20,000 rifle rounds to be shot each day," Deal said.
