REBECCA ANN KILLAM

Rebecca Ann Killam, “Becky” to her many friends and acquaintances, 82, of Diggs, Virginia, passed away at home on Monday, Feb. 7, 2022, surrounded by her family.

Born and raised in Andalusia, Pennsylvania, she was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Robert VanSant, and her brother, Robert VanSant Jr.

She is survived by her loving partner and best friend, Roger Emig, and four children, Kristie Killam (Randy Hochberg), Douglas Killam (Terri), Karen Marrone and Sandra Duplicki, as well as eight grandchildren, Daniel, Isabelle and Evan Marrone, Ellie, Laurel and Lindsay Duplicki, and Judith and Cadence Killam.

She was a passionate reader, antiques collector/retired dealer, and nature lover. Becky always had a special place in her heart for her many cats throughout adult life including Philly, who was a constant companion and comfort during the last difficult days of her life. Becky loved to cook and watch many cooking shows in addition to Mystery Series and, of course, Jeopardy.

The family gives a special thank you to Riverside Hospice and their totally dedicated workers including Brenda Scales, Angela Overstreet, Gina Rowe and all other staff who always brightened Becky’s day during their many home visits. A heartfelt thank you also goes out to her neighbors, Karen and John Weaver, and to Diane and Paul Bing for their constant support and prayers.

Donations in Becky’s memory may be made to the Mathews Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 1130, Mathews, Va. 23109, the Mathews Rescue Squad, 94 Cricket Hill Road, Hudgins, Va. 23076 or Riverside Hospice, 7358 Main Street, Gloucester, Va. 23061. A celebration of her life will be held in the future. Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, is assisting the family.
