RCC offers expanded workforce programs

Aside from college affordability, many exciting things are happening at Rappahannock Community College, including expanded workforce development, workforce training and other initiatives.

“We have had a huge transfer population here for a long time. Our challenge is to have some variety in occupational programs that benefit people here,” said RCC president Elizabeth “Sissy” Crowther.

For example, she said the overall goal of the college is to educate people in the local area so that they can attract businesses here, which means increased employment opportunities and revenue for localities.

A recent step toward achieving this goal was the agreement made with Newport News Shipbuilding’s Apprentice School program to allow graduates of the Apprentice School’s world-class shipbuilder curriculum to transfer their credits to RCC.
