Public forums next week on Main Street project

Two public meetings will be held next week to give Mathews residents a chance to learn about the details of Mathews Main Street Committee’s continuing efforts to enhance the Main Street corridor.

Both forums will be held at Thomas Hunter Middle School—the first from 2-3:30 p.m. Tuesday and the second from 7-8 p.m. next Thursday, Aug. 8.

The update will address work that is planned for the portion of Main Street beginning where the previous project left off, in front of Food Lion, and continuing north to the intersection with Buckley Hall Road.

Each forum will be structured to allow those attending to view technical documents relating to the project and to ask questions relative to specific aspects of the project, said a press release from Main Street Committee chair Bette Dillehay. Representatives of the committee and Mathews County staff members will be on hand to provide information and respond to questions.
