Profiles of Honor Tour rolls into Mathews

The Profiles of Honor Tour, a 36-foot-long World War I and II mobile museum, will visit Mathews Memorial Library from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4 and Sunday, Aug. 5.

The museum covers each branch of the military, said Library Director Bette Dillehay, featuring many artifacts and letters from Virginia soldiers of both wars. It is intended to help preserve the legacy of local veterans.

Visitors are encouraged to bring their own WWI and II related photographs or letters to be scanned for inclusion in the mobile exhibit, said Dillehay, speaking before the Mathews County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday.

“This is a great opportunity to bring to Mathews,” she said. “Many people wanted it, and we succeeded.” The library is at 251 Main Street, Mathews. For more information, call 804-725-5747. ...
