The Animal Care Society in Mathews is looking for new volunteers to help staff its Potpourri Shop on Main Street.

The shop is a long-established seller of antiques and household items, raising money to fund the society’s projects.

Society president Judith Haynes said a large percent of the shop’s proceeds goes to support the work of the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society. ACS also makes interest-free loans to help pet owners pay veterinary bills, and occasionally contributes to other animal welfare causes, she said.
