PATRICIA ALLENE REFFO

Patricia Allene Reffo of Gloucester, left this world to go to her heavenly home on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022, after a brief and sudden illness.
She was a loving wife of 47 years to her husband Carl, and a wonderful mother to five children, Solomon (Joy), Carl (deceased), Daniel (Angie), Micah, and Josiah, and a grandmother to seven grandchildren, Julian, David, Joshua, Olivia, Noah, Marissa, and Breanna. As a wife, mother, and grandmother, she was second to none, juggling five different practices at a time when her boys were in sports, while still preparing food for her family and making her house a home! As a grandmother she Skyped every chance she got, smothered her grandchildren with sweets and treats every time they visited, and never missed a chance to send a card or a present to let her grandchildren know she was thinking of them.

Along with her family, Patti devoted herself to teaching. She loved and cared for her students over her 25-year career as an educator in the Gloucester County School System as an English teacher. She was nominated to Who’s Who Among American Teachers multiple times as a teacher. She loved her students and was not just concerned with teaching them sentence diagramming, nouns, and verbs, but instead was concerned with educating the whole student and helping them to become a better person, not just a better person at grammar.

Though she loved her family and her job, her primary devotion was to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was an active member of World Outreach Worship Center and regularly attended Bible studies with a network of close, dedicated, and loving friends. She was ready to eagerly share her faith with anyone and everyone that crossed her path.

Though she will be missed greatly, we know that she is happily reunited with her mother and father and her son Carl who preceded her in death and is dancing with them in heaven. We love you, Mom, and we can’t wait to see you again!

The family received friends at the funeral home on Monday, Aug. 22, 2022, from 6:30-8 p.m. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2022, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Andrews Funeral Home, with burial in Bellamy Memorial Cemetery. Andrews Funeral Home, Gloucester, Va., was in charge of arrangements.
