Oyster business proposal before planners Tuesday

The Mathews County Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors will have a public hearing at 7 p.m. Tuesday on an application to rezone a Gwynn’s Island parcel from residential to waterfront business.

Kevin and Susan Wade have requested the rezoning in order to expand their oyster aquaculture business, Island Seafood, on Risby Town Road. The proposal has elicited protest from adjacent and nearby property owners.

The project plans are available for the public to examine in the planning and zoning office in the county’s administration building on Brickbat Road.
