No objections made to Fox Creek bridge replacement plans

Only about a half-dozen people attended a design public hearing Aug. 14 about a proposed bridge replacement project over Fox Creek on Route 662 (Allmondsville Road) in Gloucester. There were few comments made and basically no objections to the plans.

The hearing, held at the Abingdon Fire and Rescue building in Hayes, provided Virginia Department of Transportation officials the opportunity to provide details and show schematics of the project. Saluda Residency Administrator Sean Trapani said that construction is anticipated to begin in 2017 and be completed in 2018.

Trapani said he had received several questions prior to the meeting about rights-of-way in that general area and several people at the hearing asked about their rights-of-way. No residents or businesses will be displaced by the project, VDOT officials said.
