The Northern Neck Orchestra’s winter concert on Saturday will feature the music of pioneering Swedish composer Elfrida Andrée, the first woman from her country to compose a symphony, write an opera and conduct a major orchestra.

The performance is at 7:30 p.m. at the Lancaster Elementary School Theater, 191 School Street, Kilmarnock. It will include Elfrida Andrée’s Concert Overture in D Major, Antonín Dvořák’s American Suite in A Major, Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio Espagnol.

There will be a pre-concert talk by the orchestra’s Music Director Michael Repper at 6:45. Tickets are $40 and may be purchased online at www.northernneckorchestra.org or at the door. Students are admitted free of charge.
