New ‘Autumn on Main’ festival to be held Oct. 6

Much like the changing leaves and cooler weather, a new fall festival in Mathews is on its way.

Emily Allen, executive director of the Mathews Visitor Center, announced the “Autumn on Main and Vintage Market” event, which will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6.

“This is a community event to draw friends and family from near and far to enjoy some of autumn’s perks along downtown Main Street,” said Allen.

Among the attractions are a vintage market, pumpkin patch and decorating, live music, a raffle and several children’s activities.

Sibley’s General Store will distribute maps and free coffee, cider, and breakfast items courtesy of Richardson’s, Allen said.

Farmers and vendors alike will have booths along Main Street for the event and a free concert by the Honeywind Bluegrass Boys will take place on the court green from 10 a.m. to noon.
