Nell A. Riggs, 92, of Mathews, Va., passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2021. She was a member of New Point Friends Church in New Point, Va. She loved crocheting, reading and going out to eat often with her family.

Nell was predeceased by her husband, Robert P. Riggs Sr.; her parents, Harvey Ellis and Colleen Brady; a daughter, Colleen Atwell; two sons, Robert and Fred Atwell, and a stepson, Robert Riggs Jr. She loved our little Chihuahua, “Ruby” who stayed in her lap all the time.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Bartley, and three sons, Michael Riggs (Birdie), Frank Atwell (Bobbie) and James Riggs; 10 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held on Friday, Aug. 20, 2021, at 2 p.m. Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, immediately followed by a visitation until 4 p.m. A graveside service was held on Monday, Aug, 23, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Alamance Memorial Park, 4039 S.
