N.C. authorities investigating Gloucester man’s death

The Dare County, N.C. Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the death of a Gloucester man whose body was found in the water in Frisco.

The sheriff’s office confirmed Monday that the body of 57-year-old Ronald Jessen had been located that morning in the water near Frisco Woods Campground. The campground is located on the Pamlico Sound on Cape Hatteras National Seashore.

The sheriff’s office received a report at 10:42 p.m. Saturday of a person missing from the campground, according to Capt. Jeff Deringer. Deringer said personnel from his office and the National Park Service had searched for Jessen.

Deringer said the North Carolina medical examiner’s office is expected to determine the cause of Jessen’s death later this week. ...
