Mystery author to visit Lancaster County on Oct. 12

Virginia mystery author Ann Eichenmuller will be the featured guest at two events in Lancaster on Saturday, Oct. 12. She will have a book signing from noon until 4 p.m. at Objects, Art, and More, 4462 Irvington Road, Irvington, and at 5 p.m. will move to the RAL Art Center, 19 North Main Street, Kilmarnock, where she will lead a workshop during the Second Saturday Social.

These events are sponsored by the respective galleries and the Writers Guild of Virginia.

Eichenmuller, an award-winning marine and travel journalist, has been a contributing writer for Chesapeake Bay Magazine, All at Sea, RV Magazine, and Motorhome. She is best known for her four-volume nautical mystery series set along the Rappahannock River, Chesapeake Bay, and Intracoastal Waterway. In addition, she is the author of the children’s book “Foo’s Way Home,” as well as “The Writing RX” book and workbook, and “There When Needed,” the history of Smith Point’s all-volunteer marine rescue organization.

Book signing

Those attending the book signing from noon to 4 p.m. may purchase a personally autographed book, talk with the author, and enjoy a glass of wine while browsing Objects, Art, and More’s collection of original sculptures, paintings, handcrafted jewelry, handblown glass, and treasures from across the country.

As the author of “The Writing RX,” a researched guide on the positive effects of expressive writing on physical and mental health, Eichenmuller will discuss different types of writing that have proven effective in reducing blood pressure, relieving anxiety, and promoting healing. She will introduce participants to sample activities from her book and workbook, and will follow up with a question-and-answer session, as well as time to meet local authors.
The recipient of the Washington Post’s Agnes Meyer Award for Excellence in Education, Eichenmuller has spent more than 30 years as an educator. She has also enjoyed a decade-long second career as an author and marine and travel journalist.
