MPPDC to hold strategic planning retreat Tuesday

The Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission will hold a strategic planning retreat from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Piankatank River Golf Club, Hartfield.

"This will be the first one (retreat) since the late 1980s," said Lewis Lawrence, acting executive director of MPPDC. Representatives from Floricane, a Richmond consulting company, will lead the session.

Lawrence said the retreat will provide participants from the six Middle Peninsula member counties and towns of Tappahannock, West Point and Urbanna an opportunity to discuss the current state of the commission and review past successes and best practices, and to identify the key strategic challenges and priorities for the commission.

Near the end of the program, the commission will discuss opportunities for future funding of its activities.
