Monday is voter registration deadline in Virginia

Monday is the deadline to register in order to be eligible to vote in this year’s Nov. 6 general election.

For Gloucester and Mathews voters, this year’s ballot includes races for 1st Congressional District and U.S. Senate, as well as two amendments to the state constitution.

To register to vote in Virginia, you must be a U.S. citizen, a resident of Virginia, at least 18 years old by Election Day, have had voting rights restored if convicted of a felony, and have had capacity restored by court order if declared mentally incapacitated.

Voter registration can be done online (vote.virginia.gov), in person at the local voter registration office, or mail in a completed voter registration application to the local voter registration office or the state Department of Elections.
