Military photos sought for May Faire tribute

Photos of Mathews County service members will be accepted through April 26 for the Wall of Remembrance, to be unveiled in the Mathews Historical Museum on Saturday, May 4, as part of the third annual May Faire celebration.

Sandy Warhol, chair of May Faire, said photographs of any Mathews County resident past or present who has served in the military at any time may be included. Copies of the photos may be left at the Mathews Visitor Center, she said, and digital copies may be emailed to mayfairemathews@gmail.com.

May Faire is a fundraising project for the museum, which is under development at 198 Main Street in the building which formerly housed the Dilly Dally Emporium.

The theme for this year’s celebration is a “Salute to the Military.” Warhol said that military music and displays from each of our nation’s conflicts will be part of the celebration, which is being held on Mathews Court Green.
