Memorial Day services to be held Sunday

American Legion posts in Gloucester and Mathews will pay homage to the nation’s war dead Sunday afternoon in a pair of Memorial Day services.

Mathews Post 83 and its Auxiliary will hold their service at 2 p.m. at the post headquarters on Hookemfair Road at Hudgins. Gloucester Post 75 will host the annual Gloucester County Memorial Day Service at 3 o’clock at the Gloucester Veterans Memorial Wall.

Amy Dubois, who was elected last year to the Mathews County Board of Supervisors, will be the keynote speaker at the Mathews event; Vice Admiral William A. “Andy” Brown (U.S. Navy-ret.), a Gloucester County native, will address the Gloucester service.
