MCRC meeting to focus on emergency preparedness

The Mathews County Resources Council will meet at 9:15 a.m. next Thursday, July 18, at the Mathews Family YMCA at Hudgins.

The meeting is open to the public. It will include a review of services and facilities available at the Y and an explanation of how and when the YMCA becomes the community shelter as the result of a weather emergency.

County supervisor Edwina Casey, responsible for determining when the Y becomes the community shelter, will be joined by Willie Love, emergency services manager, and Tiffany Gordon, director of Mathews Department of Social Services, a release said. Gordon and her staff would oversee shelter management for the first 72 hours, the release said.
