MCF awards $131,934 in local grants

The Mathews Community Foundation presented 33 grants totaling $131,934 for local nonprofits and programs in Mathews County Public Schools during a ceremony on May 30 at Kingston Episcopal Parish House.

MCF was founded in 1999 by a small group of local residents. Its mission is to improve the quality of life for those living and working in Mathews by encouraging local philanthropy, establishing and maintaining endowment funds, providing donors a way to create enduring charitable funds that reflect their priorities, and making grants that meet changing community needs, a release stated.

The grants are focused in four areas: economic prosperity, educational success, health and wellness, and cultural vibrancy.
