May Faire to provide ‘Salute to the Military’

May Faire 2019 will be held Saturday, May 4, in and around Mathews Court Green, and celebrating the theme “Salute to the Military,” the day will have an emphasis on recognizing service members from Mathews County.

May Faire is sponsored by the Mathews Historical Museum, located at 198 Main Street. A museum exhibit, Wall of Remembrance, will include more than 600 photographs of county residents from the past to the present, who have served at some time in the military.

The wall has been built through the contribution of photographs by countless residents who did serve, or who are descended from persons who served in any uniformed branch of the military, including the merchant marine during wartime.

May Faire will also include music popular during the nation’s wars, arts, crafts and food vendors, and a number of stationary exhibits of military items.
