May Faire 2019 to be a ‘Salute to the Military’

May Faire 2019 will be held Saturday, May 4, on and around the Mathews Court Green, and will take the theme “Salute to the Military,” announced chair Sandy Warhol.

Designated by the county board of supervisors as Mathews County’s Heritage 2019 Spring Festival, the day will honor Mathews men and women who served and now serve in the military, Warhol said.

May Faire will also celebrate Mathews County’s participation in each of the nation’s major military conflicts, she said. 

In addition to vendors on the court green and a children’s area, special activities planned include:

—Recognition of the 100th anniversary year of the American Legion and of Post 83 in Mathews; 

—Military displays and musical tributes from each of the service branches and conflicts;

—A Wall of Remembrance, with photographs of Mathews residents who served and now serve, at the new Mathews Historical Museum;
