MATTHEW MORGAN WILLIAMS

Matthew Morgan Williams of Gloucester, joined his Heavenly Father on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2021, at the age of 34.
Matthew was born on July 9, 1987 in Newport News, Va. Matthew attended Bethel High School and continued his education at ECPI which gave him the honor of working with GE Healthcare as a Biomedical Equipment Technician for 12 years. Matthew married Ashley M. Williams in May of 2010 and was blessed with a beautiful daughter, Emma, in August of 2015.

It is said that as long as we remember our loved ones, they are not really gone. Their thoughts, their feelings, their memories become part of us. Matthew loved to laugh and was well known for his love of terrible Dad jokes long before becoming a father. Matthew grew in his faith and as a person by many around him who offered mentorship and loved to share fond memories of his time with his church family. Matthew did not know a stranger and always looked for opportunities to lend a hand whenever needed. He was a devoted husband, fantastic father, loving son, loyal brother, and supportive friend to many.

Matthew is survived by his wife, Ashley M. Williams; daughter, Emma K. Williams; mother, Janice O. Williams; brother, Michael E. Williams; sister, Janice M. Cohen and her husband Ronald Cohen; brother, Dallas R. Williams; niece, Heather Stanley and her husband Eric Stanley; nephew, Hunter Cohen; niece, Victoria Cohen, as well as a host of friends whom he called his chosen family. Matthew was preceded in death by his father, James Williams; grandmother, Naomi Williams; grandfather, James R. Williams, and his aunt, Audrey Quail.

A visitation and celebration of life will be held on Friday, Dec. 10, 2021, at Parkview Baptist Church. Visitation is scheduled on Dec. 10, 2021 from 2-3 p.m., with the service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkview Baptist Youth Ministry where Matthew had many fond memories.
