Mathews royalty

Tropical Storm Michael couldn’t stop Mathews High School from holding its homecoming, although it did delay the crowning of this year’s king and queen and resulted in the cancellation of Friday afternoon’s homecoming parade. The crowning was moved to Monday night at the halftime of the rescheduled Mathews-King William football game. A pep rally was held Monday afternoon, with the seniors winning the coveted Spirit Stick. Above, seniors Chandler Bell and Victoria Bing were crowned king and queen during halftime festivities. The homecoming dance was moved one week to this Saturday at MHS, starting at 8 o’clock.
