Mathews homes featured on this year’s Garden Week tour

Three Mathews County homes will open their doors, and the beautified grounds of another estate will welcome visitors, as the local segment of Historic Garden Week in Virginia returns on Saturday.

The all-Mathews tour is sponsored by the Garden Club of Gloucester, whose participation in Garden Week reaches to the event’s origins in 1930.

Full details of this year’s attractions are given in Section C of the print edition of the paper this week.

Tour attractions are Buckley Hall, Magnolia, Springdale, and the gardens at Samarkand. The tour headquarters will be found at Edge Hill House at the intersection of Routes 14 and 17 in Gloucester Court House.

In addition, a number of attractions in Gloucester and Mathews will welcome visitors who choose to extend their exploration of the counties.
