Mathews GOP plans essay contest and dinner

The Mathews County Republican Committee is sponsoring an essay contest for students, and a spaghetti supper for the public, all in celebration of the United States Constitution.

The essay question for middle school and high school students is “In What Way is the Constitution Relevant to You, Your Everyday Life, Today?” Middle school students are invited to submit essays with a minimum of 300 words and high school students, 500 words.

Essay winners will be invited to read their papers at a Spaghetti Supper in celebration of Constitution Day, Monday, Sept. 17, a release said. An MCRC Committee will judge the entries, and each winner will receive $200.  Public, private and home-schooled students are invited to participate.
