Mathews County accepting applications for interim appointment

The Mathews County Board of Supervisors has issued a request for statements of interest from residents who are interested in serving on the board on an interim basis in the seat recently vacated by Pepper Love, who resigned.

According to a press release, the county is looking for qualified voters who would hold office only until the vacancy is filled by special election and the person so elected has qualified for the position. The board voted during its Feb. 26 meeting to send a resolution to Mathews Circuit Court asking that the special election be scheduled for Nov. 5, at the same time as this year’s general election.

Statements of interest should include a cover letter, resume, and completed Mathews County Application to County Boards, Committees and Commissions, said the release.
