Mathews Christmas Parade

The Girl Scouts from Troop 1280, above, took Best Walking Unit honors at Saturday’s Mathews Christmas Parade. Forty-three units participated. Other parade winners were: Sharon Holmes’ donkeys and cart (Best Animal Unit), Mathews Little League (Best Civic), MHS/THMS combined marching band (Best School Unit), Mathews Museum/May Faire truck (Best Antique Vehicle), Grover’s Automotive (Best Commercial Unit), Mathews Memorial Library (Best Parade Theme), Locust Grove United Methodist Church (Best Church) and Khedive Temple Shriners’ Mini 18-wheelers (Best Motorized Unit). Awards can be picked up at the Mathews Visitor and Information Center starting Saturday, according to parade organizer Lynda Smith Greve. At right, Krista Sweet, daughter of Bob and Charlene Love Sweet of Mathews, atop her mount was one of several equestrian entries during the parade. ...
