The Honeywind Bluegrass Boys will perform during the Mathews Farmers’ Market Saturday to celebrate Virginia Farmers’ Market Week, Aug. 5-11. The market will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Court Street.

Virginia Farmers’ Market Week, celebrated annually, recognizes the vital role farmers’ markets play in communities throughout the Commonwealth, said a press release. To highlight the occasion, Mathews Main Street, the market sponsor, will offer a free drawing for three gift certificates that can be used to purchase from any vendor at the market during the current season, which ends on Oct. 27.

The release said that the special activities planned for Saturday are in recognition of the hard work and support of the vendors, who make it possible for Mathews residents and visitors to enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, and handmade crafts throughout the summer.
