The Mathews County Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors will hold a joint public hearing at 7 p.m. Tuesday to consider a request for a conditional use permit to allow a building in Misti Cove in Hallieford to be used as a two-bedroom residence.

Gary R. Moran is the contract purchaser for a property currently owned by the Court House Players, a community theater organization. The 42’x84’ building under consideration is being used by the group to store costumes and stage equipment.

The subdivision is zoned waterfront residential along the shoreline, while the interior is zoned off-water business and consists of the building Moran would like to purchase, a restaurant, and a common space with tennis courts and a swimming pool. The comprehensive plan identifies the area as waterfront residential. The subdivision is governed by a property owners’ association.
