Mathews board to hold organizational meeting today

The Mathews County Board of Supervisors will elect a new chair and vice chair during its organizational meeting at 10 o’clock this morning in the historic courthouse on Court Street. The meeting is expected to last several hours.

During the proceedings, supervisors will appoint the clerk and deputy clerk, adopt the schedule for 2019, appoint supervisors to various other boards and commissions, and read and possibly revise the board’s code of ethics. 

Proposed changes to the board’s bylaws regarding the agenda, the conduct of meetings, and the resolution procedure for closed meetings will be taken into consideration.

There will also be a strategic planning meeting discussion, followed by general observations and discussion by the county attorney.
