MARY LOU CARY

Mary Lou Cary, 80, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021. She was commonly known as Mary Lou and most lovingly known as Meme and Granny. She was born and raised in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee and since the 1980s, was a resident of Port Haywood, Virginia. She recently resided at the Envoy of Williamsburg. Mary Lou was a member of Westville Baptist Church for almost 30 years. She had a passion for being with family and spending time with her children. She enjoyed watching western shows, reading, and sharing stories of the times in the mountains. She also loved caring for children and had a kind and compassionate spirit.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth F. Cary; her father, Garland Ogle, and mother, Luna Watson Ogle; a sister, Alcie, and a brother, Charles.

Mary Lou is survived by her son, Rex Stout (Jenn); a daughter, Annette Stout, and three sisters, Rosa Squires (Gene), Linda Conney, Diane Niles (Kevin); a sister-in-law, Martha Ogle; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Luis), Michelle, Jeremy (Kerrianne), Angela, Daniel (Sarah), and a host of great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, Virginia. Interment followed at H. C. Smither Memorial Cemetery, Hudgins, Virginia.
