Mary Ellen Smith, age 87, of Hayes, died Dec. 15, 2020 at home with family by her side. Mary worked in food service at many area restaurants to include Sammy & Nick’s, Steve’s Steak House, Mama Steve’s and Fisherman’s Wharf. She enjoyed shopping, going to the movies and having lunch with her daughter. and was a longtime member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Smith, and sons, Thomas E. Smith and Michael Wayne Smith. Mary leaves to cherish her memory, sons, William David Smith, Curtis Allen Smith; daughter, Judy Ann Howell (Everett); eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends.

Services will be private. In our loved one’s memory, contributions may be made to: Bethlehem United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 185, Bena, Va. 23018. Arrangements under the direction of Hogg Funeral Home and Crematory.
