Margaret Jeannette Coates Cox, 87, of Gloucester, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, surrounded by loved ones at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital. Jeannette was born on Feb. 28, 1935 to the late Joseph and Maggie Coates in North Carolina. Jeannette graduated from Hampton High School. Jeannette worked as an Executive Assistant at Huntington Ingalls Industries, formerly Northrop Grumman, for 43 years before retiring in 2018 at the age of 82. Jeannette was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Maggie, and her beloved son, Jeffrey Dudley Sr.
She is survived by her sister, Carolyn; grandchildren, Jennifer Greene (Michael), Jeffrey Dudley Jr. (Jennifer), and Tiffany McDonough (Mark); great-grandchildren, Ashlee Greene-Nichols (Greg), Kirsten Greene, Michael Greene Jr., Brooklynn Dudley, Kacy Dudley, Kylee McDonough, Kamryn McDonough, and Declan McDonough; great-great-grandchildren, Caiden Greene and Emmalee Nichols, and daughter-in-law, Rita Dudley. The family received friends from 10:30-11:45 a.m. on Monday, March 7, 2022, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point, followed by funeral services conducted by Pastor Bill West at noon. Interment followed at Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery. The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the amazing ICU nurses and staff at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital.
