Lucas Bohn looks to ‘Bring the Funny’ on new NBC show

Comedian Lucas Bohn, a Mathews native who now lives in Brooklyn, New York, has had his first shot at Hollywood as a contestant on a new NBC comedy competition show, “Bring the Funny.”

Premiering on Tuesday, July 9, the show is hosted by Amanda Seales and features Jeff Foxworthy, Chrissy Teigen and Kenan Thompson as judges.

Competing in the variety act division, Bohn does a multimedia routine, using slides to tell his jokes. He is dubbed as a clean comedian who appeals to all age groups, doing impersonations of Muppet characters and telling jokes about everything from his family and friends to famous people.

Bohn spoke to the Gazette-Journal last week from a cruise ship on the West Coast, where he was performing. Talking about the show, he said that he was pitched for Bring the Funny as a stand-up comic, but ended up in the variety act division because NBC executives determined there wasn’t enough diversity in the stand-up division—and his act had the pictures...
