Local Lumberjacks

More than 400 Scouts from all around the Boy Scouts of America Colonial Virginia Council competed over the weekend in the 2019 Lumberjack, a woodcraft competition held at Endview Plantation in Newport News. Through a steady rain, the Scouts seemed to be unfazed as they moved from station to station hauling logs, splitting wood, throwing hatchets, tying knots and even flipping pancakes with dexterity and speed. Gloucester’s combined team from Venturing Crew 111 and the newly formed Scouts BSA Troop 1651, ranging in age from 14-20, finished in second place.
