The Gloucester Public Library, which had been open by appointment only as a result of the pandemic, will remove that restriction beginning Saturday, according to Gloucester County Administrator Brent Fedors.
The library’s Main and Point branches will operate under modified hours and with capacity limits in place to keep both patrons and employees safe, a county release stated.
The branch at Main Street Center will be open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. as well as Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Point Branch will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
“We’d like to thank our patrons for their continued support during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Diane Rebertus, Director of Library Services. “In order to provide a safe environment for the community, patrons and staff, modifications have been made to services and hours. We will get through this health crisis and we ask your continued assistance by washing your hands frequently, practice social distancing, wear a face covering and stay home if you’re sick.”
When visiting the libraries, patrons will be required to wear face coverings and will be asked to social distance. A limit of 50 patrons will be in place at the Main Street Center location and only 12 patrons will be allowed in the Point Branch at any given time. If limits are reached, patrons will be asked to wait outdoors until other patrons leave.
Saturday’s reopening will include an open house to welcome members of the community back inside. However, restrictions on the number of people allowed in each building at any one time will remain in place.
The libraries will have hand sanitizer stations readily available. Floor markers will also be in place to indicate appropriate distancing in queue lines and at public service desks. Also, some furnishings have been removed to help accommodate social distancing.
In-person library classes, events and activities will remain limited. Also, study rooms and meeting rooms will remain closed and book donations cannot be accepted until further notice.
Curbside service will remain available to patrons who may not feel comfortable entering the libraries. For more information, or to request curbside service, call 804-693-2998.
