Library to hold Constitution ‘Birthday Bash’ Friday

Mathews Memorial Library, with the help of the Cricket Hill Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, has arranged a special display in observance of Constitution Week, Sept. 17-23.
The exhibit features a framed copy of the Constitution, which the chapter donated to the library for display during the annual observation of this important American celebration, said a press release.
Also planned for the 231st anniversary of the Constitution is a “Birthday Bash” at 4 p.m. Friday. The event will include a reading of excerpts from the hallowed document, followed by the appearance of a special guest who will help cut the Constitution cake.
Young people are encouraged to attend and take part in making feather pens and tri-corner hats, said the release. Members of the community are invited to bring the whole family and celebrate the birth of our government.
