Leonard Hicks Sr., “Paw Paw,” passed away peacefully at his home in Hayes on Dec. 7, 2020 at the age of 89. He was born to Mack and Cora Hicks in Johnson City, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Troy, Filmore, Fred and Bobby Gene, and four sisters, Hazel, Jenny Mae, Ella Mae and Janice. Leonard came to Virginia looking for logging work in 1951 and met Alice Mattie Brown (deceased); they were married for 68 years. He is survived by their five children, a daughter, Joyce Hair (Robert, deceased), four sons, Leonard Hicks Jr. (Tammy), William Michael Hicks (Cathy Ann), Terry Lee Hicks (Debbie), and Ronnie Hicks; 14 grandchildren, Amanda and Eric; Jennifer and Nathan; Jessica, Sara and Becca; Chrissy (deceased), Terri Lynn, Rheannon, Deanna, and Dylan, Austin and Brittany; and a host of great- and great-great-grandchildren. Leonard worked hard all his life to provide for his loving family. He was a logger, a waterman, and landscaper retiring in 2001. A private memorial service will be held at Groves Memorial Presbyterian Church. In memory of our loved one, contributions can be made to Groves Memorial Presbyterian Church, P.O.
