Lee steps down from school board

Gloucester School Board chairman and at-large representative Jarret Lee announced last week that he will leave his board position and the board is now accepting applications from qualified candidates for the at-large post for the remainder of 2019.

Lee was elected to the board in the fall of 2015 and his term is set to expire on Dec. 31. He was not seeking re-election. Current school board Ware district representative Robin Rice has qualified to run for the at-large seat in November’s general election, and newcomer Darren P. Post has qualified to run for the Ware seat. 

Lee made his announcement at the end of the board’s July 16 regular meeting. He will remain on the board for its Aug. 8 retreat to be held at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science and for its regular monthly meeting on Aug. 13, according the school board clerk Carol Dehoux. Lee cited a “new job and new housing” in announcing his departure.
