Kennedy named RCC president

Dr. Shannon L. Kennedy of Shelby, North Carolina, was hired last Thursday to become the next president of Rappahannock Community College.

She was among 70 applicants for the position, from a nationwide search that began shortly after current college president Elizabeth “Sissy” Crowther announced she would be retiring next month. Kennedy will officially begin her duties in July.

“Shannon has more than two decades of higher education experience with a heavy emphasis in academic affairs and workforce development training,” said Glenn DuBois, chancellor of Virginia’s Community Colleges. “She also offers years of experience as a college’s chief financial officer finding ways to ensure the college operates efficiently and prioritizes resources toward serving students.”
