JUANITA ANN REW

“The sweetest, kindest person I’ve ever known.”

On the morning of Monday, May 23, 2022, Nita Rew slipped from the arms of her grieving husband into the waiting, outstretched arms of her Lord and Savior.

She was born in 1944 into a what would become a large Catholic family and was educated in Catholic schools. Nita achieved high marks and graduated as valedictorian. She learned kindness, sacrifice, and a dedication to helping others, which she practiced all her life.

She is survived by her husband Carl, being the love of her life for 46 wonderful years, along with her pets, who gave her great joy. Quoting her husband, “I never deserved her for one moment, but it was easy to recognize she was a gift from God, and I was grateful to accept the blessing she truly was.”

Nita’s devotion to her faith gave her the peace and strength she would need to endure her 11-year struggle with Parkinson’s disease along with multiple incidents of CVA that would ultimately take her from this life. Following her 30-year career with IBM and in retirement, Nita fully enjoyed owning and operating Timeless Antiquities, the little antiques shop she loved so much.

She will be missed by many as she was loved by all.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Francis de Sales. Burial followed in H.C. Smither Memorial Cemetery at Hudgins, Va. Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, Va., assisted the family.
