Joyce L. Clayborne, 66, of Gloucester, peacefully transitioned on June 19, 2022 at home with her family. She was born Oct. 12, 1955 in Mathews County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Thomas and Louise (Foster) Jarvis.

Joyce graduated from Mathews High School, Class of 1974. Following graduation, she continued her education at the College of Hampton Roads in Newport News, Virginia. In 1975, she received her diploma in Accounting.

In 1980, Joyce married the love of her life, Calvin Clayborne. They celebrated 42 years of marriage on May 3, 2022.

Whether it was Murphy Mart, Ames, or Walmart, where she worked for 25 years until her retirement, Joyce’s friendly face and warm smile could be felt wherever she was employed.

Joyce leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Calvin Clayborne; two daughters, Yolanda and Sherri Clayborne; one granddaughter, Zhane Clayborne; one brother, Thomas Jarvis Jr. (Catherine); and several in-laws, nieces, nephews, colleagues, and family friends.

A viewing was held from 5-7 p.m. on June 29 at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 30, at Zion Poplars Baptist Church, T.C. Walker Road, Gloucester.
