JOHN ROMAN HEDGES

John Roman Hedges of Gloucester, loving husband, and stepfather of three children, passed away at the age of 59 on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022.

Roman leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends who were always entertained by his stories and hilarious sense of humor. He truly brought the life to the party. He had a passion for painting and loved to fish. Roman loved to sing anywhere and anything. His voice would surprise you and grab the attention of the whole room.

Roman liked to appear a little rough around the edges, but truly was a softy with a huge heart that would do anything for anyone.

Roman was born Feb. 12, 1962 in New Jersey to Frances Spicer and Carl Hedges. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Louise Hedges, on Feb. 14, 1997.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Curtis Hedges; his brothers, James Edward Hedges, Roy Lee Hedges and Wayne Curtis Hedges.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Louise Hedges; three children, Stacy Harrison, Kimberly Calkins, Philip Harper; 10 grandchildren whom he loved with all his heart; his brother, Edgar Logan Hedges; half-brother, Tommy Smith; half-brother, Gary Hammerly, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Roman was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
