Jimmy Ray Phillips Sr., 76, of Cobbs Creek, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at his home. He was born on April 17, 1946. He graduated from Mathews High School in 1964 and from the Newport News Apprentice School in 1969. In 1976 he worked for CDI Marine Co., and was currently working for the City of Newport News Codes Compliance. Jim had an A1 Building Contract license, an ASA Master Plumber license. He also had a Real Estate Broker license, and a HVAC license. He taught Auto CAD at ODU and graduated from the Norfolk Police Academy.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Judy H. Phillips; a daughter, Karen Phillips; a son, Jimmy R. Phillips Jr. (Janice); grandchildren, Colby Phillips, Brodie Phillips, Keeley Phillips, Coral Phillips, Ryan Polesko, Steven Pritchett (Kayla); a great-grandson, Cole Pritchett, and a special nephew, Phil Phillips.
The family received friends on Sunday, May 1, 2022, from noon-1 p.m. at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, Virginia. A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment followed in Windsor Gardens Cemetery, Dutton, Virginia.
