Jennifer Baucom has taken over sole ownership of Bayside Children’s Therapy Network, Inc., which is located inside the Coca-Cola building on Main Street, Gloucester.
Bayside Children’s Therapy Network, Inc., provides medical and educational therapy and family wellness services to children, families and schools. Services are offered both in person and virtually, depending on individual family needs.
Beginning in 2010, Baucom, MA, CCC-SLP, and Lisa P. McCann, MA, OTR/L grew the practice from a few storage boxes full of toys and certifications, into what it is today. Baucom estimated that the clinic hosts about 75 sessions a week; that’s not counting the virtual services as well as work done at school sites.
BCTN serves the needs of children at risk or identified with motor, sensory, speech, language, or feeding-based concerns. Services are conducted in direct consultation with the child, education and/or medical team, referring agency, and family, with the network’s large service area encompassing the Middle Peninsula, Peninsula and Northern Neck.
McCann will continue to provide support to BCTN when needed as she builds her new company, The Bee PAWSitive House, PLCC. She will be offering traveling community-based occupational therapy, doula care services, and maternal/infant family wellness through the first year of family life. Contact McCann at ot4kidzlisa@gmail.com for more information.
A lifelong Gloucester resident, Baucom graduated from Gloucester High School in 1990. After completing her education, she came back to Gloucester, married and raised two children in the community.
Baucom said she is “trying to make the transition as smooth as possible” to sole ownership of the practice, with “no great changes.” McCann will be referring clients to BCTN and help out as needed.
Bayside Children’s Therapy Network is currently marking its 15th anniversary of providing occupational, physical, and speech therapy services. “Since it opened its doors in August of 2010, many infants and children with developmental/educational/therapeutic needs have benefited from their services,” a release stated. “In addition to clinic-based therapies, BCTN now serves many local area school districts, private alternative schools, as well as homeschooled children in the area.”
This past year, BCTN has welcomed four new therapists into its family: Maria Eckstein, COTA/L, Mary Biederman, OTR/L, Maryann Simpson, MS, CCC-SLP, and Nicole Kain, MS, CCC-SLP. Those four new therapists complement the current staff, which includes Pamela Lang, PT, DPT, Sharon Kubic, MA, CCC-SLP, and Whitney Wooten, MS, OTR/L.
BCTN is accepting new referrals for those needing occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech-language therapy. For more information, contact office manager Cathy Williams at 804-210-1555.
