Oyster gardening event Saturday in Deltaville

The Tidewater Oyster Gardeners’ Association will hold an educational/informational event at the Deltaville Maritime Museum during the museum’s Holly Point Market from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. The museum is located at 287 Jackson Creek Road, Deltaville. TOGA Master Oyster Gardeners will provide informational materials and advice for new oyster gardeners or those with questions about maintaining their oyster gardens. Various essential equipment such as cages and floats, tumblers, spat bags and high velocity water cages will be on display. These items will be sold at TOGA’s Oct. 17 Float Sale at Camp Kekoka in Kilmarnock. TOGA will be offering its “Oysters 101—Basic Oyster Gardening” course for adults and youth on Sept. 26 from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the museum’s library.
