James “Jimmy” W. Conner Jr., 74, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 11, 2021, in Gloucester. He was preceded in death by his parents, James W. Sr. and Rosalie Conner.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of more than 49 years, Carolyn; daughter, Heather Robertson and her husband David; son, Forrest Conner and his wife Jessica; grandchildren, Taiya and Jacob Robertson and Brenton and Bayleigh Conner, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Jimmy retired from the Hampton Police Department after 27 years of service, he was a Master Mason at Botetourt Masonic Lodge #7 AF & AM, an active member of the Middle Peninsula Amateur Radio Club, a Charter Member of the Hampton F.O.P. Lodge #26. He was born and raised in Hampton, but had been a Gloucester resident for more than 20 years.

A visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021, at Andrews Funeral Home, 7192 Main Street, Gloucester, and a graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, at Parklawn Memorial Park, 2551 N.

Armistead Avenue, Hampton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue, P.O. Box 1417, Gloucester, Va. 23061. The family would like to give special thanks to Jimmy’s longtime friends, Robert Walker, Richard Barnes, and Leo Flibotte. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks are required for everyone.
