JACQUELINE GREEN SLADE

Jacqueline Green Slade, 78, of Gloucester County, departed this earthly life on Monday, May 24, 2021.
Jackie was born in Gloucester on March 30, 1943 to the late Christine and Lowell Green. She graduated Valedictorian of her class in 1961 at Thomas C. Walker High School. Jackie continued her education at Hampton Institute. For a short period of time Jackie was a substitute teacher at Thomas C. Walker School. Jackie began her government career in 1968 as a clerk-typist at Fort Monroe and retired as an Inventory Accuracy Officer from the Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown in 1998.

Jacqueline is survived by Carlos, her loving husband of 58 years; daughters, Tanya Slade of Washington, D.C., Shantelle Ballard (James) of Washington, D.C., Paquita Gillard (William) of Woodbridge, Va., and Yulanda Dixon (Nathaniel); her sister, Marlene Murdock (John); two aunts, Gladys Griffin and Bernice Thomas; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; cousins; nieces, and nephews. Jackie was preceded in death by her mother, father, and granddaughter, Saige Ballard.

A walk-through visitation will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Ordinary, Va. A private memorial service will follow.
