On Sunday, Dec. 12, 2021, surrounded by her family, Irene Horsley Carr of Gloucester, age 95, went to be with her heavenly Father. She was the daughter of the late Calvin B. and Helen Bailey Horsley, and was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Bertrand Carr. She was a graduate of Botetourt High School Class of 1942. Irene loved the Outer Banks, walking on the beach, and gathering shells. Her son, Maury Carr (Cindy); two grandsons, Wade (Tanya) and Chris (Melody) Carr; seven great-grandchildren, Joshua, Kyle, Nicholas, Zachary, Mason, Addison, Sarah, and a brother, Nelson Horsley, survive her. The family received friends at Hogg Funeral Home Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2021, from 7-8:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Hogg Funeral Home Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021, at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Dr. Margaret Louden, followed by interment at Gloucester Point Cemetery.
